Weekly October Garden Tour | Beginner Gardening in Limited Space

I am happy to share with you all my weekly October garden tour to see how I am progressing in my journey. If you are gardening in limited space or you are a beginner like I am, come along and follow my journey so we can learn and grow together. I started my garden with a baby cabbage plant, and before you know it, I am growing cabbage in containers. 8 of them!

These are the veggies that I started with which I purchased from Home Depot. They were small transplants and I am happy to see how they are thriving now. Although towards the end of the week, I started noticing yellow leaves in my cabbages which raised concern. I did eventually remove the affected leaves.

I direct sowed lettuce and spinach in a container bed because I read about people growing lettuce in containers and also growing spinach in containers, so I figured I can try to do the same. But they did not perform well at all. The soil mix that they are in is a mix of cow manure and organic potting soil. I don’t know if that is too rich for the seedlings, but they never grew. I will have to start that raised bed over again.

I wanted to see if I can grow onions from scraps, so I chopped the bottom of an onion I used and had the roots grow in water. After 11 days, I transferred it to the soil. Since they were performing well, I figured I can grow scallions from scraps as well. For those of you who have never grow green onions before, its a simple method. You just chopped off about an inch of the bottom with roots and plop it in the soil. That’s it! I am happy to see that they are going well.

And then we have the baby radishes. Growing radishes is easy if you are a beginner and I was happy to see how they are doing. I will try to to make a weekly update for as long as I can because I am learning a lot and want to share with my viewers as well. Thank you for watching this video!
