Florida King Peach 🍑

The Florida King delivers a bounty of fresh produce when most fruit trees are just getting started. Blooms emerge in early spring with a crop ready to harvest by mid-May! And as a self-pollinator, it only takes one Florida King to see tasty results.

Look for an overall yellow skin tone to determine the Florida King’s ripeness. Red, sun-kissed highlights can be misleading; it’s most important these peaches have completely changed from green to yellow before picking. A ripe peach is slightly tender to the touch. Simply twist, pull… and eat! They can also be stored up to a week in the refrigerator before they should be eaten or preserved.

Not so long ago, it was hard to find a peach that grew in the deep South, but not today. Considered a low chill peach, the Florida King only needs 300-400 hours below 45 degrees for good fruit production. Although cultivated for Gulf Coast heat, it can handle the cooler temperatures found around USDA Zone 6 and 7.

Florida King Peach Trees are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Florida King Peach Tree will drastically increase the size of your crop.
