The indeterminate tomato is a vine that will grow as tall as the stake. There is not a certain size for this plant. The determinate plant is a bush variety and it will only grow to a certain height. When planting a tomato plant it is best to plant it as deep as it can go. Tomato plants root from the stem and this will produce a stronger plant if it is planted deep. There will be so many more roots if planted deep. This will make for a stronger plant and produce more fruit. I use Mycos, Plant-tone, VermisTerra worm casting, and eggshells in the planting hole. When planting deep make sure the leaves do not touch the soil. This will prevent diseases from forming on the plant. Mulching also helps separate the soil from the plant. The mulch also helps to retain moisture which will help prevent cracking of tomatoes.
